Ocean crossings, winding rivers, and private horizons —

Ocean crossings,
winding rivers,
and private horizons — thoughtfully matched to the way you prefer to experience the world.
Journeys by water have long been one of the most meaningful parts of Filling the Nest—
not simply because we love being on the water, but because few styles of travel offer such a seamless way to experience the world.
Whether crossing oceans, tracing historic rivers, or chartering a private yacht, the right vessel becomes far more than transportation.
It becomes your hotel, your front-row seat, and often the very heart of the journey itself.
Our passion for this style of travel extends well beyond planning. All Filling the Nest Team Members have pursued specialized training and partnerships throughout the cruise industry, and Marla and Kent Fowler are proud to serve as dedicated hosts for select Virtuoso Voyages sailings—exclusive departures that bring together like-minded travelers with enhanced experiences, special events, and the added support of a trusted Virtuoso advisor sailing alongside the journey.
The difference between a good voyage and an extraordinary one often comes down to matching the traveler to the right ship, the right itinerary, and the right pace. From intimate river vessels and ultra-luxury expedition ships to private yacht charters and world cruises, we help navigate the options so that your time on the water feels effortless, intentional, and unmistakably your own.
Most importantly, we understand that not every cruise is created equal.
There is something undeniably romantic about arriving by sea.
From the sun-drenched harbors of the Mediterranean
to the dramatic fjords of Northern Europe and the remote islands of the South Pacific, ocean cruising offers a style of travel that combines effortless exploration
with the comfort of unpacking only once.
Today's finest cruise lines bear little resemblance to the ships many travelers imagine. The modern luxury voyage is defined by exceptional service, refined accommodations,
destination-rich itineraries, and an atmosphere that feels
more private club than floating city.
Whether your priority is culinary excellence, immersive cultural experiences, extended Grand Voyages, family celebrations,
or simply waking each morning to a new horizon,
we help match you with the ship, suite,
and sailing that best reflects your travel style.
Unpack once.
Discover endlessly.
There is a reason so many travelers fall in love with river cruising after their very first sailing.
Unlike ocean voyages, where destinations are connected by sea,
river journeys place you directly in the heart of a place—gliding past storybook villages, centuries-old vineyards, grand capitals, and landscapes that unfold just beyond your balcony. One morning may begin in Vienna, the next in Budapest.
Lunch might overlook the Rhine Gorge,
while dinner is enjoyed docked steps from a charming French village square.
The experience is intimate by design. Smaller ships, fewer guests, personalized service, and immersive itineraries create a pace of travel that feels both enriching and wonderfully effortless. There are no long transfers, no unpacking and repacking, and no rushing from one hotel to the next. Instead, the journey unfolds naturally as the scenery changes outside your window.
Whether exploring Europe's legendary waterways, sailing through the vineyard-covered hills of Portugal's Douro Valley, discovering the castles and wine regions of France, following the Nile through Egypt, or venturing into Southeast Asia, river cruising offers a uniquely elegant way to experience a destination—one that combines cultural immersion, exceptional service, and the simple luxury of slowing down long enough to truly take it all in.
For many travelers, a river journey becomes the perfect balance between exploration and ease: the depth of a land-based itinerary paired with the comfort of a floating boutique hotel that accompanies you every step of the way.
The world's greatest stories were written along the water.
Some journeys are best experienced aboard a ship.
Others are best experienced aboard your own.
Private yachting offers a level of freedom, flexibility,
and exclusivity unlike any other style of travel.
There are no fixed schedules, crowded ports,
or predefined itineraries—
only the destinations, experiences,
and pace that feel right for you.
Some destinations are just best discovered from the water.
Through our global network of trusted charter partners,
we have access to an extraordinary fleet of professionally managed vessels around the world.
From elegant day boats and classic sailing yachts. to expedition-ready vessels, fully staffed motor yachts,
and some of the most exclusive superyachts afloat. We help match each client with the perfect vessel
for their destination, group size, and travel style.
Whether cruising the Greek Isles, island-hopping through Croatia,
exploring the coastlines of Italy, sailing the Caribbean, discovering the fjords of Norway,
or anchoring off the beaches of the South Pacific,
private yachting transforms the water from something you admire into something you truly experience.
For our 30th anniversary,
the goal wasn't to see one destination.
It was to see many—and to see them well - without sacrificing comfort along the way.
The Oceania Marina Owner's Suite became our sanctuary for the journey, allowing days to unfold at a slower pace while the scenery changed beyond the balcony.
Each morning began in a new town, often a new country, yet there was never a need to pack, repack, change hotels,
or coordinate transfers.
Our ship simply carried our story forward.
One of our favorite travel splurges has always been accommodations with two bathrooms,
and the Owner's Suite delivered beautifully—
with spacious his-and-her dressing areas,
walk-in closets, and enough room to
truly settle in rather than simply stay.
Add butler service, and even the
unpacking disappeared from the to-do list.
What remained was the best part: lingering over breakfast on a balcony stretching across the stern of the ship, watching the wake trail into the distance, exploring multiple countries with remarkable ease,
and ending each day knowing that
home would be waiting just down the corridor.

Thirty years in...still charting new waters.
Sometimes luxury is not just
about having more...
it is about having less to think about.
