. . .
Little fun fact about me . . . despite growing up in the restaurant business and having a grandmother who published a cookbook, (and another grandmother who was, although unpublished, an even better cook, her famous “2 ingredient deviled eggs” the inspiration for this page) . . . I don’t cook on a regular (or even semi-regular) basis.. . .
My grandmother, Maude “Moo Moo” Landry, and her “FAMILY RECIPES” (that’s her and my grandfather in a George Rodrigue painting on the cover) . . . not all of her recipes were as easy as the one for cooking rice in a Hitachi (filed under the “vegetables” section of course) but they were all amazingly delicious, and I’ll be sharing many of them with you here!
. . .
It’s not that I can’t cook (well, maybe it’s a little of that) . . . I just don’t love it, or think to prioritize it and make it part of my daily routine. Like my husband (#poorkent) says, despite my grandmothers’ DNA, I’m “missing the gene that says’ just cook to feed your family’ “. . . oh, well, I do have other talents.. . .
. . .
Fortunately for us both, he does enjoy it . . . and he’s REALLY good at it. And I do our taxes and handle all the bills so we both think we’re winning this marriage game. But I do love to entertain, and I’ll go all out if someone’s coming over or a holiday is approaching. I’m as happy to try out new Pinterest inspired creations as I am to repeat family favorites, and I love any excuse to set up a Bloody Mary bar and buy myself flowers.. . .
. . .
I’ll be sharing my favorite recipes, tablescapes, and other entertaining experiences past and present in this DEVILLED EGGS section and THE (NOT SO) EMPTY NEST section of FILLING THE NEST . . .. . .
