We all fight the calendar v. closet battle. It’s frustrating and often overwhelming, and I’ll admit I haven’t always won the fight. But I’ve definitely learned some shopping, dressing and packing strategies along the way, and I’m happy to share them here.

Are you starting your day off in yoga pants? Great, if you’re headed to the gym (cue applause from me, and mental note to try that on occasion). But not all yoga pants are created equal…and not all tops, shoes, bags, and more pull the look together and give you that “now, I’ll just run all over town since I’m already out” confidence. I’ve got some thoughts on “what to wear when you (pretend to) work out so you can rock it all day” looks coming soon.
Are you headed to work? To lunch? Or a special night out? Dressy casual defines our fashion world these days, both in the workplace and about town. But have you ever shown up someplace and everyone just blends because you’re all sporting the same booties/skinny jeans/ tunic look? Stay tuned for tips and tricks to help you be YOU and stand out while looking both current and classy to win the dressy casual game.

Are you planning a big trip, and need looks that combine comfort with practicality? Well, STOP, because you’ve probably come to the wrong place. I’ve kind of made “impractically perfect” my mantra when it comes to what to wear when traveling, so admittedly comfort and practicality aren’t always my top goals. That being said, I’ve never fallen while traveling in my wedges and I’ve found a cute leather jacket or my fave brocade coat will keep me just as warm as a bulky souvenir sweatshirt.
(Disclaimer: I am currently sporting my holy, faded bulky souvenir sweatshirt from Sag Harbor . . . but it’s really cold, and I absolutely loved that Mother-Daughter trip to the Hamptons and like the reminder. Besides, the furthest I’ll leave the house in it is the mailbox.)

In this FINE FEATHERS section of FOWLER FAVORITES and FILLING THE NEST, I’ll be channelling my shopping addiction and bringing you the classics and the trends to blend for great fashion success when you leave (or stay at) home.
